Exclusive Insurgent Clip: DVD Release August 4th, 2015

I have been offered this unique opportunity to share this video clip to promote Insurgent's upcoming release to DVD. I saw Insurgent in theater after taking a standardized test all day long at school. My friends and I went to the opening release showing at 8:00. We figured that the movie would be popular even in our small town, so we showed up to the theater early. We were the first ones there and the only ones there for a long time. Finally around 7:30 the theater filled up. I really enjoyed Insurgent. It makes a few changes from the book, but in some ways help me understand the book better. I remember when I read the book I got confused with character names. You can read my review here. I'm looking forward to watching Insurgent a second time on DVD when it releases, August 4th, 2015.

Some of My Favorite Book to Movie Adaptations:

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

This honestly is one of my all time favorite books. It was one of the first books I ever reread. I saw the movie first and then fell in love with the novel. I still love to watch the movie. I enjoy seeing Claire and Henry grow as a couple in their unique love story.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

This movie also stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. I read this book before I saw the movie and it is a really tear jerker, but a beautiful love story.

The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak

The Book Thief also tops the list as one of my all time favorite books. The movie is not quite as good as it misses out on some of the depth that the book has, but it still is a good movie.

Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer

I loved all the Twilight movies, but Breaking Dawn Part 2 is by far my favorite. I read all these books while I was in 8th grade. There were many times I would be reading during class and the teacher would have to ask me to pay attention. They were hard to put down.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

This was such a sad, but beautiful movie. I hope they will make Where she Went also because the ending left a huge cliffhanger. Even though I read the books and know what happens I would love for it to play out on screen.

Divergent Trilogy

I would have to say by far that Divergent is my favorite novel and movie, but I enjoyed Insurgent also and I'm impatiently waiting for Allegiant to be released in theaters. I love this trilogy and the stars of these movies have made them amazing.

Book Review: Laguna Cove by Alyson Noel (no spoilers)

Book: Laguna Cove
Author: Alyson Noel
Publication: July 25, 2006
Source: June 14-July 5, 2015
Summary (From Goodreads):

Moving to sunny Southern Cal feels like punishment to 17-year-old Anne. the hippie-ish school is different from her old one on the East Coast, and the social scene is all about hanging out at the beach and surfing. And then there's Ellie: beautiful, competitive queen of the social scene who takes an instant disliking to Anne. So when Chris--one of Ellie's oldest friends and, oh yeah, the most gorgeous guy in school--reaches out to Anne and offers to teach her how to surf, sparks fly...in more ways than one.

My Thoughts:

I read this book pretty slowly. June was a busy month and I didn't feel like reading. I still enjoyed this book a lot.

It had a lot of the modern teenage clichés, but if you are able to get past those it is a laid back summer book.

Anne moves to Laguna cove to live with her dad. This place is totally different than New York. Anne doesn't feel like she fits into until she meets Lola, who introduces her to Jade, Ellie, and Chris. Ellie has liked Chris for years, but when she notices that Chris likes Anne she is instantly jealous. The story evolves from there. Anne grows a lot over the course of this book. Although Ellie could be really mean, I really liked her character. Jade and Lola were also great additions to this book.

I liked that each character had a different story, but they were all interconnected as friends. As I said earlier this book is pretty laid back. It isn't fast paced, but I enjoy this pace of books sometimes. The ending came fast and I still had a lot of questions. I wish there was a sequel with these same characters.
