Top Ten Books I Read the Year I started Blogging

I'm a week late on this week's top ten Tuesday post. I thought that this post was so much fun I didn't want to miss out. The topic for Tuesday September 12 was your top ten favorite books from the year you started blogging. In no particular order here are my top ten favorite books from the year I started blogging.
Started my book blog changed my reading habits in a lot of ways. Suddenly this door was open and there were so many book recommendations that I almost didn't know what to do with them. Starting my blog gave me a creative outlet to talk about books and share the books that I love. When I look back at 2013, the year I started my blog, I read a lot of fairy tale retellings. I didn't know anything about fairy tale retellings until I started my blog. I started following Debz Bookshelf, The Book Rat, A Backwards Story, and Daily Prophecy. All of them are huge fairy tale retelling fans and they really started my love for fairy tale retellings. My love for Disney very naturally tranfered over to my new love for fairy tale retellings.

I started blogging the year that The Fault in Our Stars was all the rage. I mean every blog and booktube channel was raving about The Fault in Our Stars, so I had to give it a chance and I really enjoyed it. My sister read the entire Divergent series before I even started. Hunger Games had really started the distopian craze and Divergent continued this fandom. In 2017 distopian has lost popularity, but there are still good distopian books coming out.

I remember I shipped hard over St. Clair in Anna and the French Kiss. I absolutely loved this book and it was a quick read for me especially since I had just started my first year of college. Firefly Lane was a book that I reread in 2014. I loved Firefly Lane. It still is one of my all time favorite books and I highly recommend it.

It was so much fun reflecting on the books I read in 2013 and when I looked at my shelf on goodreads these are the 10 books that really stuck out to me and here we are 4 years later and I still remember how it felt to read these books and what the book was about.

COYER Summer Reading List Wrap Up

Summer COYER has come to an end. Boy did I love this summer's reading list challenge. I'm a list person and I love making lists, but it is rare that I ever stick to them. I did great with COYER's reading list. I really read mostly books from the list this summer. We had to choose 30 books to put on the list. I knew that I wouldn't complete all 30 books, but it was fun to try.

I read 8 books off the list and the good news is that 3 of these books are ebooks and one is a book I own. I'm glad to have read all these books. They were all great.

I'm super excited to see what is in store for the COYER winter switch. Sign up goes live on November 18.

July and August Wrap Up and Sept-Nov TBR

July was a great month for reading. Clockwork Princess is so far the longest book I have read this year and I'm so glad to finish the Infernal Devices series. Flame in the Mist is my least favorite for the month. The book was good, but the story was hard to follow at times. I loved all the other books. They were such great reads.
August was a month for fairy tale retellings. Before Midnight was a retelling of Cinderella, Wild Orchid the ballad of Mulan, and The Crystal Heart rapunzel. I loved all three of them. Before Midnight takes my favorite. We also went on vacation in August, so I didn't get as much reading done.

The end of the year is fast approaching, so I'm in challenge mode to get my challenges done before the end of the year. I only have three books left for Monthly Keyword, but I'm behind on my books I own and Deal Me In challenge. I'm going to play catch up for the rest of the year. One of my big goals this year was to read all the 2013 releases I missed that I put on my top ten tuesday. I only have four left, so I totally can do it. Here is a list of books I want to read by the end of the year.

1. Things we Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby
2. Just One Year by Gayle Forman
3. Something in Between by Melissa De La Cruz
4. Poison by Bridget Zinn
5. Golden by Jessi Kirby
6. Strands of Bronze and Gold by Jane Nickerson
