COYER Summer Reading List Wrap Up

Summer COYER has come to an end. Boy did I love this summer's reading list challenge. I'm a list person and I love making lists, but it is rare that I ever stick to them. I did great with COYER's reading list. I really read mostly books from the list this summer. We had to choose 30 books to put on the list. I knew that I wouldn't complete all 30 books, but it was fun to try.

I read 8 books off the list and the good news is that 3 of these books are ebooks and one is a book I own. I'm glad to have read all these books. They were all great.

I'm super excited to see what is in store for the COYER winter switch. Sign up goes live on November 18.

July and August Wrap Up and Sept-Nov TBR

July was a great month for reading. Clockwork Princess is so far the longest book I have read this year and I'm so glad to finish the Infernal Devices series. Flame in the Mist is my least favorite for the month. The book was good, but the story was hard to follow at times. I loved all the other books. They were such great reads.
August was a month for fairy tale retellings. Before Midnight was a retelling of Cinderella, Wild Orchid the ballad of Mulan, and The Crystal Heart rapunzel. I loved all three of them. Before Midnight takes my favorite. We also went on vacation in August, so I didn't get as much reading done.

The end of the year is fast approaching, so I'm in challenge mode to get my challenges done before the end of the year. I only have three books left for Monthly Keyword, but I'm behind on my books I own and Deal Me In challenge. I'm going to play catch up for the rest of the year. One of my big goals this year was to read all the 2013 releases I missed that I put on my top ten tuesday. I only have four left, so I totally can do it. Here is a list of books I want to read by the end of the year.

1. Things we Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby
2. Just One Year by Gayle Forman
3. Something in Between by Melissa De La Cruz
4. Poison by Bridget Zinn
5. Golden by Jessi Kirby
6. Strands of Bronze and Gold by Jane Nickerson
7. Destiny Rewritten by Kathryn Fitzmaurice
8. Forever and Always Lara Jean by Jenny Han
9. Stitching Snow by RC Lewis
10. We Should Hang Out Sometime by Josh Sunquist
11. Friendship by Emily Gould
12. The Summer of Everything by Catherine Clark
13. 738 Days by Stacey Kade
14 The Dear One by Jacqueline Woodson
15. The Secret of a Heart Note by Stacy Lee

My TBR Overwhelms Me

I absolutely love Goodreads and tracking my TBR, but sometimes my TBR overwhelms me. My goal since I created my Goodreads account back in 2012 has been to keep my TBR manageable. I'm constantly trying to read books off the TBR list, but not add as many books as I erase. Back in 2014 I decided to create a spreadsheet of my Goodreads TBR list, so I could see how many books I have read off the list and see if I was making progress on getting the list down. I started this project back in 2014 with 238 books. I still have 131 books from the 2014 list that have not been read. 232 books from 2015 I haven't read and that leads me up to my current Goodreads TBR, which is at 392 books. I have to admit that it is crazy that my TBR has grown to almost 400 books. When I look though the list there are some amazing books on the list that I want to read, but don't know if I will ever have the time to read. I have always sat somewhere in the 300s and been fine with it, but 400 books for me is a lot.

Sometimes my TBR overwhelms me. I just want to lower the number of books on the list and make some progress. I love my spreadsheet and I love seeing the progress I make over multiple years. I also think the individual challenges I do keep me reading books off this list at a pretty consistent rate. The books that I really worry I will never read apear on the 1st page. Many have been there since I joined Goodreads and I still haven't read them.

At the end of the day I need to enjoy what I'm reading and sometimes it is isn't all about the numbers. At the end of the day my TBR serves a purpose to help me remember books that I want to read and if I don't read some then that is just how it is going to be.

Tackle Your TBR Read-A-Thon Sign Up

I'm signing up for the Tackle Your TBR Read-A-Thon. This Read-A-Thon runs from September 11th-September 24th.  I plan on working off the remainder of  my summer TBR List. I will post my TBR List in a few weeks after COYER is over and I know what is left on the list.

Summer TBR Wipeout Wrap Up

During the Summer TBR Wipeout I decied to use my COYER summer reading list. For coyer I had to choose 30 books fullying knowing I would not read all 30 books off the list, but I chose a mixture of books that I wanted to read this summer hoping I would at least get to some of them. Throughout the summer I have mostly stuck to this list without problem. I read 7 books off the list at this point. I might add a few more before COYER finishes up. I have not finished The Crystal Heart yet, but I think I will finish that this weekend.

This challenge literally flew by. I enjoyed every second and it really motivated me to move some books off my TBR.
