How I fell in love with the story of Rapunzel

I have always been attracted to the Disney's princess. The princess movies have always been my favorite movies to watch so it is no surprise that I have fell in love with the story of Rapunzel.

My first encounter with the story of Rapunzel is in Barbie as Rapunzel. A girl trapped in a tower that can paint a secret passage to get out. I loved the magic and mystery of the story and I always hoped that Rapunzel would find her way out.

Then my love for Rapunzel was renewed when Disney released Tangled. Mandy Moore as Rapunzel was perfect and Zachary Levi as Flynn was amazing. I will do a full review of Tangled sometime this month. Ever since Tangled has been released I have fallen in love with the story of Rapunzel. I have been obsessing over every Rapunzel thing I see.

I think Rapunzel is one of the more complex princesses and that is why I love her. She isn't always a strong herione. She needs to be rescued more than once, but I think that one of the reasons I love Rapunzel is because she has a beautiful strong spirit. Although everything in her life has all been about being trapped in a room Rapunzel is not bitter, but kind and forgiving. She is resilent in so many ways. Rapunzel is the true essence of how we need to approach life letting going of the past and embracing the future.

Sit Back, Relax, and Welcome to A Month of Rapunzel

  1. How fun that Barbie introduced you to Rapunzel! I always like those little Barbie movies. I really love the Barbies with big butterfly wings! I think there is a movie based off those too.

    1. Barbie as Mariposa is a good one also. I also liked Swan Lake and 12 Dancing Princesses (a fairy tale Disney has not covered yet).

  2. I loved the Barbie movies growing up! The newer ones are kind of...bleh, but the first 5 or 6 were great! Rapunzel was probably my favorite. I think my first encounter with Rapunzel was from Zelinsky's amazing picture book, and from their my story is pretty close to yours! Tangled was so brilliant!

    1. I don't know if I have ever read Zelinsky's picture book, but I would like to. A lot of the older barbie movies were the good ones.
