Summer Library Challenge: Read-A-Thon Goals, and Updates

I'm late with this post, but not to worry I spent all of yesterday reading. I needed to wait with this post because I needed to show you another great stack of Library books. Last Week I finished The One and Only by Emily Giffin so I returned that otherwise my pile looks vaguely familiar right. I'm currently reading City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. I'm actually almost finished. My goal is to finish it by Friday so I can count it for the Spring Sequel Challenge. From Top to Bottom my library books are Little City by the Lake by Celcia Wilkins, The Real Boy by Anne Ursu (June random read), Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, The Rules for Disapearing and the Rules for Breaking by Ashley Easton, The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker, Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, Tender Morsels by Margo Lanangan, Little House in the Ozarks: The Rediscovered Writings by Laura Ingalls Wilder edited by Stephen W. Hines. The Real Boy, Fangirl, and Rules for Breaking are my three new ones for the the week. Anyhow I'm up to 10 books so I'm hoping no more coming in for me this week or next week.

Also my story from yesterday involving the library. I had to pick up books from the library yesterday. We were predicted to get Hail and Heavy Rain. At the moment when we left it looked clear right as we get on the main highway it starts to downpour and then I fall the worldest slowest truck. I ran inside in the heavy rain and got the books and came out. Then we drove home in the pouring rain. It ended up not being the hailstorm they predicted, but I was afraid it would be when we started going. We made it home safe and got the car in the garage.

I start training for my new job tomorrow and then I'm officially going to start next week. I'm going to be working at a church daycare for the rest of the summer. I'm excited! We are going to be running the Color Vibe this weekend. I love 5K races and this one sounds super fun also. My plan is to go visit one of my college friends next  weekend. She lives 5 hours away so I'm not looking forward to the long drive, but I haven't seen her since we got out of school so it is super exciting. I need some good audiobook recommendations because with 10 hours in the car I'm bound to get about 2 done. It really makes the drive go faster if I can listen to a book instead of music. Although I may do both.

My goal for this week is to finish as many of those library books as possible. My other goal is to read over 500 pages. Also updates are going to be different. I will update on this post. I love seeing what times of the day I read most, but updates where I put every time I read have become cumbersome and I don't enjoy doing them so instead I'm still going to track my time, but I'm only going to post the time read and pages read for the day.

Day 1
pg 369 to pg 450

Pages Read: 81
Time Read: 3 hours 3 minutes
Thoughts: I probably would have got more reading done except I took a much needed hour nap. I was up early yesterday. Then the computer is distracting as always. City of Heavenly Fire just keeps getting better. I know this finale is going to be epic. I know I'm not going to be ready for this book to end. Luckily I still have The Infernal Devices and The Magnus Bane series to move on to.

Day 2

pg 450 to pg 488

pg 0 to pg 30

Pages Read: 68
Time Read: 2 hours 30 minutes
Total Pages Read: 149
Total Time Read: 5 hours 33 minutes

Day 3
pg 488 to pg 509

Pages Read: 21
Time Read: 50 minutes
Total Pages Read: 170
Total Time Read: 6 hours 23 minutes
Thoughts: I almost just want to pretend that yesterday never happened. I barely read at all. In hindsight it was a really fun day. I started my new job at the church daycare and I never thought working with people I didn't really talk to in  high school would be so enjoyable, but it truly was. I enjoyed being surrounded by children and I think it is going to be a really fun laid back job for the rest of summer. Gasp * I started my government paper I have been meaning to start. It is due July 3rd so I have to get it done soon. I'm hoping this weekend.

Day 4 June 19th
pg 30 to pg 44

pg 509 to pg 558

Pages Read: 63
Time Read: 3 hours 14 minutes
Total Pages Read: 233
Total Time Read: 9 hours 37 minutes
Thoughts: I wanted to stay up later reading City of Heavenly Fire, but I was just too tired so I went to bed. I was hoping to have it done by today, but I don't see that happening, but for sure this weekend. My comment about Little House in the Ozarks is that although the book is good I learned it isn't interesting enough to be my only book I'm reading so I'm keeping it in the computer room and trying to read at least a couple chapters every day. I learned that Rules for Disappearing is due Monday and *gasp* I can't renew it so that is what I will be reading next.

Day 5 June 20th
pg 558 to pg 638

pg 44 to pg 51

Pages Read: 97
Time Read: 2 hours 24 minutes
Total Pages Read: 330
Total Time Read: 12 hours 1 minute
Thoughts: I really wanted to finish City of Heavenly Fire today, but that didn't happen. We had a busy day. We picked up our race packets and then went over to our neighbors house around 2 and came home where I got some reading done. Then we went the pool and I wasted some time on the computer before I read 53 pages bringing me to midnight. *insert sad face* This read-a-thon is almost over.

Day 6 June 21st

pg 638 to pg 725
pg 0 to pg 53

Pages Read: 140
Time Read: 3 hours 20 minutes
Total Pages Read: 470
Total Time Read: 15 hours 21 minutes
Thoughts: Saturday was a really good day for reading. I had to know the ending of City of Heavenly Fire and oh it was good. I have already wrote my review and everything. It was wonderful. Then I started The Rules for Disappearing which is great so far.

Day 7 June 22nd
pg 53 to pg 114

Pages Read: 61
Time Read: 1 hour 34 minutes
Total Pages Read: 531
Total Time Read: 16 hours and 55 minutes
Thoughts: I spent more time reading in this library books read-a-thon, but I read more pages in my own. Overall it was a pretty good week. I enjoyed the books I was reading and I'm looking forward to getting some books returned to the library.

  2. I'm curious to see how you like The Frog Princess. I saw the other books in the series at the library the other day and was considering putting a hold on it.

  5. Can you only request so many inter-library loans at a time? Or are you just too full on books to request more, lol?

Some great ones in your pile!

You need to get a Twitter account so we can chat. We'd get along so famously ;)

    1. I have had as many as 3 inter-library loans out at the same time. I just don't need any of my holds to come in this week because I have so many books. Well See about Twitter! I'm just not that interested, but you can email me.

  6. We had bad weather as well last night. My husband and I were on our way to one library when it downpoured and so he ran in to grab something real quick (video game) but I wasn't going to get soaked, so I stayed in the car. I still have a nice pile to get through from last week's trip, so that should keep me busy. I hope you get to Fangirl - it is AWESOME.

    1. Yes I hope so too. I was on the hold list forever. I'm glad you made it home safely. A family that lives about 10 miles away lost their house to a tornado and another farmer near them lost his machine shed and barn. It hasn't been that fun of a week.

  7. I just recently read and reviewed Fangirl and quite liked it, I hope you do too. I hope you don't mind, but I tagged you for The Book Blogger Test. If you feel like it you could continue it. Good luck with your reading goals, I think you are doing great!
