Bout of Books Sign Up and Goals

Bout of Books 12 is about to start. I'm ready for a week full of reading adventures. I have work off this week and it is my last week of Christmas vacation before I return to college so I'm planning on getting as much reading done as possible.

I'm currently reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and I'm on page 128. Then I'm hoping to at least start Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins.

If I'm able to finish Mockingjay then I will start Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I think this is going to be a great read, not to mention that I own it.

Black Friday and Christmas Spirit Read-a-thon/Challenge sign up

The black friday read-a-thon takes place at the end of your Thanksgiving into black friday. You can either be comfy and reading at home or read while standing in line. I'm pretty sure I will be doing a little of both. I will hopefully be on to a new book by then either Infinite, Isla and the Happily Ever After, or Ashes to Ashes. I will be reading something on my kindle app when I'm standing in line.

Michelle @ True Xmas Spirit

I'm going to sign up for Mistletoe and actually complete it this year unlike last year. I'm ready to start reading Christmas books soon.

24 Hour Read-A-Thon October 2014 Finish Line Hour 24 Update

  1. Which hour was most daunting for you? I always do better in the spring with the read-a-thon. I didn't force myself to stay up last night because I was happy with my progress. I passed out in hour 16.
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and  Siobhan Vivian, How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) come true by Sarah Stroymeyer
  3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? I think the read-a-thon is great. I do think the blogs were a bit quiet this time around probaby because cheerleaders are always lacking. I might consider cheering for a few hours in April.
  4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? The social media was great. I loved the goodreads group.
  5. How many books did you read? 2. I finished the last little bit in Zoe. Then I read all of Burn for Burn and started a little bit of Fire With Fire.
  6. What were the names of the books you read? How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Stroymeyer, Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
  7. Which book did you enjoy most? Burn for Burn
  8. Which did you enjoy least? I liked them both
  9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders? N/A
  10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time? I might consider being a reader and a cheerleader come spring. We will see when the time comes.

24 Hour Read-A-Thon October 2014 Hour 16 Update

After the volleyball game I made some peanut butter balls quickly and went back to reading. I read pg 197 to pg 223 from 6:37 to 7:05. Then I read pg 223 to pg 356 from 7:29 to 9:48. That was end of Burn for Burn. This was truly a great readathon book because it was fast paced, and interesting. I couldn't wait to find out what happened after every page.

Pages Read: 159
Time Read: 2 Hours 47 Minutes
Total Pages Read: 405
Total Time Read: 8 Hours 33 Minutes

I'm only about 45 pages under my total from this past April. I feel like I had more distractions last April although I read for more hours. With the friend having plans for today I was free to spend the day reading and I did. Like I said earlier I couldn't have asked for a more perfect readathon book than Burn for Burn. After I finish this update I'm going to start Fire with Fire and see how far I get before I fall asleep. I'm very proud of myself so I'm not going to push myself too far. I think today was a great day of reading. I love Dewey's Readathon and I enjoy participating no matter how much or little I read.

This will be my final update for the night. I'm going to make my grocery list and then I'm going to lay in bed and read. I will be back in the morning for the finish line post.

24 Hour Read-a-thon October 2014 Hour 12 Update.

I just finished up with my long break for today by watching my favorite college play volleyball and unfortunately they lost. I'm still reading Burn for Burn. I read from 3:29 to 3:48 pg 170 to pg 184. Then I read during halftime pg 184 to pg 197 from 4:49 to 4:58.

Pages Read: 27

24 Hour Read-a-thon October 2014 Hour 9 Update

I can't believe it is already hour 9 and this is my first update. Here's my secret. I have been way too busy reading to update.

I woke up this morning and I only had 49 pages left in How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer. From 8:05 to 8:58 I finished Zoe. I have to say I really loved this book especially since I'm a Disney Fanatic and this was a contemporary about a theme park called Fairyland.

Then I went downstairs to do laundry as planned, so I had lots of time to read. While downstairs I started Burn for Burn by Jenny Hann and Siobhan Vivian. From 9:27 to 11:32 I read from pg 0 to pg 92. Then I went to my friends room and only read 3 more pages from 11:57 to 12:05. Then I came back up to my room and decided to take a bath so I could read for a long time. It was very relaxing. I read pg 95 to pg 170 from 12:19 to 2:31.

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-A-Thon October 2014 Sign Up and Goals

Hosted by 24hourreadathon

I know this is really close to the date, but I'm finally announcing my plan to participate in Dewey's 24 Hour Read-A-Thon. I will be staying at college this weekend and my roommate is leaving so with the apartment to myself I'm hoping to have a productive day of reading. My friend that I hang out with on the weekends mostly also has plans for Saturday. She says she feels bad, but I was secretly happy because I knew that would give me lots of hours of reading. In April I hung out with her while doing the read-a-thon. I just ending up spending most of the time in her room reading instead of talking to her. That isn't abnormal in our friendship because she knows I read a lot anyways especially on the weekends when I can ignore schoolwork.

My plan for Saturday is to wake up around 7 when the read-a-thon starts and read in bed until around 8:00. Then I'm going to get dressed and go downstairs to do laundry. I don't trust the people in my complex so I stay downstairs with my laundry in the laundry room no matter how many weird stares I get. While I'm down there I will read. Once my laundry is done and put away then I'm going to take a shower and get ready for the day. After that I will just pick random places to read changing places frequently. I'm hoping it is nice outside so that I can read outside for a while. I also will probably head down to the library and read there for quite a few hours. Their chairs are so comfortable. I have a volleyball game to watch at 4:00 so that will be my long break for the day. I'm excited for the read-a-thon.

I'm currently on page 234 of How Zoe Made Her Dreams Mostly Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer. I plan to finish this early in the read-a-thon day. Then I will start Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. I also have Moonlight by Ann Hunter to read on my computer.

I will also be participating in the Wonderfully Wicked Readathon which starts today.

Goodbye Summer Read-A-Thon Wrap Up

Hosted by Bookmarklit

The Goodbye Summer Read-A-Thon has come to an end and I'm a few days late as far as wrapping it up. I do not have any stats for you as I haven't had time to tally my results, but I have it all tracked. I just have to sit and decode. I hope to get my progress post up this weekend. I'm just here to wrap up the books I read. I finished two books and started a third book. That is pretty amazing progress for me.

Books Finished:

Both books I finished are by Kasie West meaning that I have finished all of her novels. I loved both The Distance Between Us and On the Fence. I can't wait to read more by this author.
Books Started:
My copy of Lola has the other cover, but this one is just so pretty. Then I dove into another contemporary with Loa and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. So far I'm enjoying it, but not quite as much as Anna and the French Kiss.

Goodbye Summer Read-a-thon Sign Up

Hosted by Bookmarklit

I'm kind of on a break from read-a-thons, but this one sounds awesome so I'm joining.

The goal of this read-a-thon is to read summer books or books we wanted to read this summer, but didn't. I'm planning on finishing Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, starting The Night Circus by Erin Morgansten, and possibly start The Distance Between Us by Kasie West.

Head on over and join this read-a-thon. It sounds like a lot of fun. I don't plan on getting a whole lot done since I will be in college and my classes have a lot of reading and homework that go with them. Something is better than nothing.

Bout of Books 11 Wrap Up

I read 250 pages in 6 hours and 5 minutes in 7 days which is an average of 35 pages per day and about 52 minutes per day.

Books Started:

Unfortunately the only book I made progress on is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I was hoping to read more, but it was a busy week. This was probably by far my worst Bout of Books. Hopefully I will do better in January.

I have a dermatologist appointment in the morning. I always get a good 30 pages done at her office. Then we are planning on going to see The Giver as our going back to school tradition.

Bout of Books 11 Sign Up

Bout of Books

I know I'm late with the sign up, but I will be participating in Bout of Books 11. This Bout of Books takes place during my final week of summer so between work, packing, and a wedding we are attending it is going to be a busy week. Bout of Book is organized by Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal and Amanda @ On a Book Bender. You can find out more information at the Bout of Books Blog.

My goal this week is to finish Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and start The Distance Between Us by Kasie West. I would also like to read around 12 hours.

Wicked Wildfire Read-A-Thon Wrap Up 2014

As far as reading goes I didn't do too bad with this read-a-thon. As far as updates goes I couldn't motivate myself to update on this read-a-thon in the slightest.

I read 674 pages in 12 hours and 42 minutes in 11 days. Granted I have done better on some Bout of Books read-a-thons that were only 7 days, but this wasn't that bad.

Books Finished:

I finished The Real Boy by Anne Ursu which I loved and Little City by the Lake by Celia Wilkins (I will hopefully read the last book in this series soon).

Books Started:

I started Ash by Malinda Lo. I ended the read-a-thon on page 73, but I'm currently on 156.

As mentioned when I signed up I was also going to try to complete the booktube-a-thon challenges. I completed 4. The Real Boy counted for the book with pictures, and a book somebody picked for me. Little City by the Lake counted for a book with red on the cover (the carriage) and the genre I have read the least of. Ash did not satisfy any challenges, but is helping me out with my tbr this month as I will be caught up with random reads soon.

Wicked Wildfire Read-A-Thon Progress

The reading part of this read-a-thon so far has been going fine, but updates not my forte this week. The time is not accurate at all. I noticed that the time tracking was making me want to read less so because I would like to keep some general time for my end of year stats I decided I would guestimate on the time read. I have read quite a bit this week and enjoy just being able to pick the book up and not write down the time.

As you can see from the updates probably not my best read-a-thon week. I feel that I have done a really good job. Tomorrow's update will include finishing The Real Boy and starting Little City by the Lake. I think I do have the possibility of finishing the books I set as my goals.
