My Thoughts:
I don't know how to write this review without totally fangirling over Split Second. I think think that Pivot Point was the better book of this series, but Split Second did not disappoint. I'm totally in love with Kasie West as an author and can't wait to read more books by her.
The chapters switched back and forth between Lalia's life in the compound and Addie's life in the norm world. After knowing the alternate ending of Pivot Point I knew how I wanted Addie's life to end up in Split Second, but it broke my heart to realize that Trevor had no idea who Addison is and what they went through to together. That one decision had changed everything about Addie's life.
In this new life Duke was still a jerk and Trevor was still the handsome dream boy. Addie didn't know any of this because all of her memories of Trevor had been erased at the end of Pivot Point. I so much wanted her to realize that Trevor was the guy she wanted to be with.
Lalia also had a much larger role in Split Second. Addie chose her life with Duke instead of Trevor because of Lalia. Lalia has a letter from Addie that she is suppose to open, but she is scared to know what is inside that note. The words in that note changed the whole course of the novel. The decisions Lalia had to make for Addie were decisions true friends would make. Those decisions were also leading Lalia toward her happy future.
The characters I loved in Pivot Point are back in Split Second and I was in love right from the start. Addie is still reeling from how Pivot Point ended, but she is ready to go see her dad for Christmas break. I knew her meeting her dad would lead back to Trevor. Trevor has to top the list as one of my favorite Book Boyfriends. I'm in love with his charming personality and how much he cares for people. Addie faces many challenges in Split Second that will either tear her away from Trevor or bring her closer and she handles each moment amazingly.
Part of what I love about Addie is that she is a strong female character. Her best friend Lalia is no different. These are two girls that can make their own decisions and be confident in their decisions. Lalia has many life altering decisions in this book. She risks everything for Addison, but I loved that part about Lalia. It showed that she was willing to be the best friend Addison needed by her side. Lalia is strong and courageous. I would love to have her spunk.
Then there is Trevor. He is still jaw dropping gorgeous. I so wanted him to see Addie the way they had been in the previous novel, but their relationship had to start from scratch and grow. He had to learn to trust Addie first. Trevor is the character I totally have trouble writing about without telling you how much I'm in love with him, but I totally am. I think his decisions in Split Second were the right decisions towards his future. He is a total romantic man. I loved him for every second of this novel.
Connor started off as a charactered I hated, but he was very complex and he grew on me. He had a shattered past and wanted to keep it a secret. As he revealed the world he was living with I understood his reasons.
I fell in love with Split Second. Addie, Lalia, Trevor, and Connor are all amazing characters. Even Duke roll in the novel was important. I did not like him as a character, but he created the necessary conflict of the novel. Every moment from Split Second was spectrally written and I fell in love with every second of this novel. I read most of the book in a day.
The ending of Split Second much like Pivot Point had my blood racing. Every moment of the ending chapters tore me apart. There was no way of knowing whether the novel would have a happy ending or one full of despair. Kasie West kept me waiting in suspense until the very end. Split Second gave me every emotion I could ever dream of and more. I think that Split Second was more amazing than words can ever explain. I highly recommend Pivot Point and Split Second. I can't wait to see what wonderful works of art Kasie West comes out with next.
