Dewey's Readathon April 2016 Finish Line

Another Dewey's Readathon has come to an end. I called it early last night because I was so tired. It was one of those nights that I was basically asleep by the time my head hit the pillow.

pg 373 to pg 392 9:34 to 10:00

I thought I would finish this book because it was getting so good. I will probably finish it today.

Pages Read: 19
Time Read: 26 minutes
Total Pages Read: 187
Total Time Read: 4 hours 38 minutes

  1. Which hour was most daunting for you? 16 I ended up calling it a day.
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? The only book I read this round was Clockwork Angel. This wasn't was not as fast paced as previous books I have chosen for the readathon.
  3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next season? I missed the cheering on the blogs. I got one comment the whole readathon and that is really sad. I was planning on being an official chearleader again this year, but with the blog option taken away I decided not to. I did cheer for some of the blogs I follow.
  4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? I loved the facebook group and the hourly updates as usual.
  5. How many books did you read? 0 (I'm almost done with Clockwork Angel)
  6. What were the names of the books you read? -
  7. Which book did you enjoy most? -
  8. Which did you enjoy least? -
  9. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time? I will be back in October as a reader for sure.
As per usual my stats over several readathons. This is my 7th readathon. Each readathon is different and holds a different schedule for the day, but I continue to make the readathon work for me and enjoy every moment. I also find it funny that I got the same readathon time two readathons in a row, but as you can see a lot less pages this time around.

April 2013: 296 pages
Oct 2013: 92 pages
April 2014: 440 pages

Dewey's Readathon April 2016 Hour 14 Update

We went and saw The Huntsman: Winter's War and I loved it. It was so good. I have been participating in the readathon since hour 8 and it is already hour 14. I actually do not have any reading to update on this post, but I wanted to do the mid-event survey and then I'm back to reading.

Mid-Event Survey:
1. What are you reading right now? Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
2. How many books have you read so far? 0 :(
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? I'm hoping to start Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? I went to a movie and had supper. That took about 5 hours out of my reading time.
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? I love the energy as usual.

Dewey's Readathon April 2016 Hour 8 Update

So after breakfast I went and took my bath that I had been looking forward to and I ended up staying in there from 10 to 1. Let's just way that my feet were a bit shriveled and I put on a lot of lotion, but I continue to warm the bath up saying I would get out after the chapter was over, but the book just had me lost. I'm leaving soon to go see The Huntsman: Winter's War, so this will be my big break for the day. Then when I come home I will continue reading.

9:50 to 1:09 pg 204 to 336

Pages Read: 132
Time Read: 3 hours 19 minutes
Total Pages Read:168
Total Time Read: 4 hours 12 minutes

I have doubled the number of pages I was at this morning.

Mini Challenge: What distracts you from reading the most?
Facebook. Facebook is a place where I can spend a lot of time and often distracts me from homework and reading. Youtube is another great distract because I can spend hours watching videos.

Dewey's Readathon April 2016 Hour 3 Update

My morning did not go as planned. I planned on waking up at the beginning of the event, but I ended up getting woke up at 3:00 am by a fire alarm. We didn't get to come back inside until 4:00 and it took me a long time to get back to sleep, so I shut off my alarm and figured I would sleep as long as I could. I ended up sleeping in until 8 and I got straight to reading.

7:56 to 8:41 pg 168 to pg 199
8:57 to 9:05 pg 199 to pg 204
Pages Read: 36
Time Read: 53 minutes

Here is my breakfast: blueberry/banana muffins, chobanni flip salted caramel delight, and orange juice.

Bookish Childhood
1. My first favorite book was The Berenstain Bears in the Dark. I don't know what drew me to this book, but this remains one of my favorite books to this day.
2. I loved watching Clifford on PBS and reading the books that go along with the show.
3. My 3rd grade teacher introduced me to Laura Ingalls Wilder and I spend most of my middle school years reading her books.
4. During 4th grade my favorite books were the Fudge Series by Judy Blume. These are one of the first books that mom bought for me because she knew I would read them.
5. During 5th grade the Magic Tree house series were books I was obsessed with. I think they were below my reading level at this time, but I could finish many of these books in a day.

I will see you in a few hours for another update

Dewey's Readathon Starting Line April 2016

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I'm reading from South Dakota, United States
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Winter Garden by Kristen Hannah
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Fruit Squish'em, Pasta Salad, Energy Bites, and Fruit Cups
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
My name is a Rachael. I have been a book blogger for over three years. I love reading YA and Adult fiction. I am now a Junior in college and this is my 7th readathon. When I'm not busy with school work I'm always reading or with my friends. I also enjoy running and love living a happy active lifestyle.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is my 7th Dewey's Readathon. Last read-a-thon was very productive. I hope to spend most of my time reading. I forgot to update last time because I was so lost in my books and that is what I want.

Here is my plan for Saturday:
This is a preschedule post that will go up at starting time, which for me is 7 am. I'm planning on waking up around 7 and reading in bed until around 8:30 to 9:00. Then I will have some breakfast. Then I plan to take a long relaxing bath and get some reading done. Then I will have pasta salad for lunch. After that I will probably lay on the couch and read. We may go see The Huntsmen tomorrow night, but I'm not sure otherwise I will just spend the rest of the day lounging and maybe put in a disney movie or two to listen to. I'm currently on pg 164 of Clockwork Angel. I'm hoping to finish this book and start Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah.

April 2016 To Be Read List~Let's Vote

Hosted by Because Reading

I'm extremely behind on this challenge. I ended up DNFing Cloaked. I wasn't getting into it and I was bored with the story line. I think it was something I would have enjoyed when I was 14, but now I'm a little old for it. I have not started The Infinite Moment of Us. I think I'm going to start that one next. Meanwhile I still want to participate this month. It is my hope that I will catch up. Here's the fun part of this month I joined this new book app called Books Amino. This app is like Social Media for books. You can write blog posts, create polls, and much more. It is basically an app where you just talk about books with people all day long I love it. I'm going to let my followers on Books Amino also vote for my April To-Be Read List book.

This month's theme is books that I have at college. They are going to be books I own, but all of them will be books I already have here. And I'm having trouble picking just three, so I'm going to show you the picture of what I have list the books and you can leave which book you think I should read in the comments. I know I have more probability to have a tie this week, but hopefully between the two sources I will have a clear winner.

1. Story of a Girl
2. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
3. Between Friends
4. All Fall Down
5. Best Friends Forever
6. This Song will Save Your Life
7. 99 Days
8. Winter Garden
9. The Forestwife
10. The Library Card
11. Royally Crushed
12. The Princess Diaries

2016 Homework Assignment Challenge Quarter 1 Check In

Hosted by Fantasy is more fun and Because Reading

For this quarter of the 2016 Homework Reading Assignment Challenge I earned a B. I'm not quite finished with The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith, which is my March book. I'm almost finish, so I'm counting it. I ended up completing January, which was Wonder by R.J. Palacio and March, which was The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith. I don't know what I will read over the next three months, but I'm excited about many of the books on my list. You can see the full list in my 2016 challenges post at the top of the page.

The TBR Triple Dog Dare Wrap Up 2016

Guess what I made it to April 1, 2016 and I have not read any new releases. I actually don't have a whole lot of new releases on my radar this year, but I do have some that I plan to read soon, such as Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I currently have 330 books on my Goodreads TBR List. I started the year with 338. I managed to read 12 books for this challenge. I read 15 books last year before April 1st. The TBR Triple Dog Dare was a success. I have been a slow reader in 2016, so far, but I hope the pace will pick up in May after I finish school.
