I don't have a clear cut winner this year like I did in 2013. I read so many great books this year. I will be announcing my Book of the Year in January. Right now some favorites were Cress, Pivot Point, Incarnate, Open Road Summer,  City of Heavenly Fire, The Distance Between Us, On the Fence, leaving Time, and  Burn for Burn

Second Star by Alyssa B. Sheinmel

 3. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read in 2014? 

Open Road Summery by Emery Lord. This book blew me away.

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows. I read this book and then I told my sister she needed to read it.

I discovered so many so this is really hard, but I'm going to have to give this one to Jodi Meadows, Emery Lord, Jenny Han, and Siobhan Vivian.

-I don't know if I really had one this year.

-I don't think I had one of these either.

-I loved the Read-A-Thons this Year. Also the Spring Sequel Challenge, and Summer Reading Program

-I recieved a lot more review requests this year, but I was trilled when Jodi Picoult's publish offered me a copy of Leaving Time. Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors and it was an absolute honor to read her book early. 

7. Most Popular Post This Year On Your Blog (whether it be by comments or views)?

-My review of Looking for Alaska by John Green which I read in 2013. A lot of my A Month of Rapunzel Posts gained a lot of attention. That was such a fun event to host on my blog. 

8. Post You Wished Got A Little More Love?

-Any of them would be great. I love comments as do most bloggers.  

9. Best bookish discover (book related sites, book stores, etc.)?

-I really love watching Booktube videos, but this isn't really a new discovery. I was watching booktube before I started blogging. 

10.  Did you complete any reading challenges or goals that you had set for yourself at the beginning of this year?

 -I completed almost all of my challenges for this year and I'm working on signing up for next year's challenges.

December was a fun month to come back to blogging. I was done with school December 11th so I have been relaxing, catching up on blogging, and scheduling ahead so you guys still have posts when I go back to school. I'm hoping to remain active this semester, but it is always depends on my classes and how much time I have. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I have some Christmas book reviews coming up soon.

One of my biggest goals for 2015 is to keep the blog organized. I have made a printable blogging calendar that I'm going to use and I have joined the 2015 Blogger Organization Challenge, so through that I hope to keep up with things throughout the year instead of waiting until the end of the year to do everything.

I didn't blog the whole month of November. I published three posts. I didn't have time is my first excuse, but I also didn't feel like it.

In With The New: Goal #11

Something I have always struggled with is quitting a book. Some books just don't click. For Someday Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham I just didn't feel any connection to the characters. It took me most of the month of November to read and really put my reading in a rut. In 2015 I give myself permission to quit a book. If it isn't working for me it isn't worth it. I have a lot of books that I need to read. This happening will be another story because I often make myself finish books.

The TBR was a fun way to reflect on my TBR. My TBR has really got out of control. I started my Earth Science class in October which I would would be better than Biology, but oh was I wrong. I also celebrated my 20th birthday. I have been alive for over two decades and it is crazy to think of all the amazing things I have gotten to experience. I love to travel and I'm hoping to find a partner that enjoys traveling too. I watched a money segment on Home and Family and learned I'm a saver. I think I save so I can travel and see new places.

Dewey's Read-A-Thon was a big part of October. I spent the entire day reading and completed Burn for Burn in a day. Dewey's Read-A-Thon will be a big part of 2015 and I will participate in both the spring and fall Read-A-Thon. Dewey helped our book community to come together and it is one of my favorite events of the year.

I said goodbye to summer in September and I think the amount of posts I posted in September showed the lack of time I had while at school. This semester was a very stressful semester and that is the reason I had to slow down on blogging. I also slowed down on reading.

Reflecting on the Past Year~ Happy 2nd Blogoversery

Can you believe Rachael Turns Pages is two? I have been blogging for two full years. I can hardly believe it. This year I hosted my first month long event. A Month of Rapunzel occurred in March. The 2nd Annual Library books Read-A-Thon took place in June. Overall I had a lot of fun being part of the community this year. 

My cousin Dylan turns two today. He has such a great personality and looks just like his dad. Everything is broken and needs batteries. Next Christmas he needs to bring his hammer. Dylan became a big brother this year to twins Sydney and Cameron that were born on June 27th, 2014. 

My cousin just announced that she is pregnant with her third child so we will welcome another family member in April. Emma is 2 and 1/2 and her little sister Alliana is 1. It has been fun to watch our extended family grow and expand over the past 2 years. I look forward to the day when I will start my own family, but for now I'm having a fun time holding and spoiling my cousin's children. 

I wanted to share pictures I haven't shared on the blog this year. Since I only post pictures
of myself it mostly ended up being my running/fangirl life. I participated in the Avera 5K in May and
one through my university in October. Running is an active part of my life and something I'm extremely
proud of. I usually run around 3 days a week in the spring. I usually drop off to 2 times during the summer
and stay down to twice a week during the fall.

I finished my Freshman Year of college in May. What a wild ride. College has changed life so much for me. It has taught me how to grow up and take on more responsibility. It also gives me the ability to have fun with my friends and work towards finding my future career as an elementary education or special education teacher. 

I accepted my first job in June of 2014 at a daycare center near my home. I enjoyed my job this summer and it is fun to return over Christmas vacation. I also volunteered for my third year at Kindercamp in June. 

This is the Color Vibe 5K I took part in June. I did like this
5K although it wasn't as competitive as the ones I usually do.
I still do prefer timed 5K over this one, but my siblings and I
had a lot of fun. 

We went to California in August and spend many days a Disneyland. It was a fun vacation and time spent with my family. Then it was back to college. This semester has been hard. My science course Earth Science and Biology were both very hard and draining. I did end up passing both of them. The rest of my classes were boring. I also volunteered at a daycare this semester for 20 hours as part of my paraprofessional experience. I would have loved to do this experience a different semester when I could spend more than an hour at the daycare at a time. It all worked out and I got a positive recommendation for internship. 

Now I'm moving on to a new semester which I'm hoping brings more enjoyable classes. Although I'm finishing up my final English credit which I know I will complain about the whole way through. 

Although I love to focus on the positives of the year. 2014 brought a number of sad moments for my community. My mom lost her job at the end of August. She ended up starting a new job in November, but it wasn't an easy time for my family. 

My community suffered the loss of an 8th grade in October of this year. She was ran over by a car because she messing around with the driver of the car. This was a devesating loss when there was so much more life she had left to live. 

My high school guidance counselor passed away on December 27th, 2014 due to a heart attack related to complications from Influenza A. He was only 40 years old and way too young to pass away. He left behind his wife and three young children so I ask for prayers for his family. 

It is approach the three year anniversary of my friend's mom's death. She was only 38 years old when she died. She would have been 42 this April. After Christmas passes I go into a really hard time because so many people died around this time of the year. My guidance counselor is just another to add to the list of people who were taken from this earth way too soon with so much life left to live. 

I'm hoping for a peaceful year for my community in 2015. We have gone through a lot over the past 3 to 4 years losing so many community members way too soon. 

I look forward to another great year of blogging. My followers make this journey worth it. Thank you for every comment and every positive thought you guys have left me. I will see you all in 2015.

August was a pretty slow month. We went on vacation and I don't read on vacation because I'm just so tired, but we have so much fun. So that is the reason for my lack of reading in August. I went back to school at the end of August met my amazing roommate and had a so-so semester.

I will be the Geeky Bloggers Book Blog  and The Book Nympho's library challenge in 2015. Thanks to Berls for the info. This challenge really makes me want to participate in a program like Sunday Post so I could share with you the books I read that week. The books I have check out from the library. The books I'm planning to read next. Here's to goal number 8. I'm going to start trying to doing Sunday Post so I can share all this awesome stuff with you guys. The first post will go up January 11 which is sadly also the day I have to return to school. But on the bright side I get to see my roommate. :)

Reading is a huge part of my life and the library has made reading happen for me. I haven't always had money to buy books, but the library allows me to read an endless variety of books. This year I'm going to try a budget where I have to earn money through exercising and reading to buy books. I'm also allowed to use giftcards. I imagine I will still get quite a few books from the library this year. Otherwise July was a pretty slow month for posts on the blog.

I write this post today with some sad news. My high school guidance counselor passed away yesterday due to complications from Influenza A. It was a hard day to understand the world. I don't understand why he was taken so young and when he still has three young children that now don't have a father. I ask for prayers for him and his family.

I'm participating in COYER ins 2015 and I would love to get my Kindle TBR pile down. I would also like to be active in this challenge through Facebook. The New Year's Read-A-Thon starts in a few days and I'm excited to get some reading done.

My wrap up for June sums up the month well. June was a busy month. The wrap up post was long, but it will be great to look back on in the coming years. I had kindercamp at the beginning of June, starting my 1st job at the end of June, welcomed my twin cousins into the world, and ended the month by visiting my friend that lives 4 and 1/2 hours away. The library books read-a-thon took place in June. I also participated in the Book Monsters Summer Library Reading Challenge and Signed Up for COYER Summer Vacation.

In 2015 I want to make my own pile a priority, but I still hope to check out a lot of books from the library and read new releases in 2015. I hope that Library challenges are available again this summer to promote readers to support their local library. People don't realize how much the library adds to the community.

May was all about signing up for summer challenges. I love the picture in this post because I'm wearing shorts. Shorts are my favorite and I would love to wear them year round. I'm lucky enough to have a job right now that allows me to wear them to work. For now its the dead of winter here in the Midwest and I'm rocking my jeans or sweat pants. I finished college in early May and I had a lot more time to blog and it definitely shows by the number of posts I got out in the month.

This year I would love to continue to post my TBR pile at the end of the month and try to complete the books I put on it. I would love to do more challenge wrap ups this year. My goal in 2015 is that I will empty my TBR jar since I started it from the beginning of the year instead of May.

I wrote my first Original Fairy Tale post. I wrote a 2nd one over Bluebeard in May. Otherwise I haven't kept up with this feature. I will most likely bring back the feature during Fairy Tale Fortnight. I participated in Dewey's Read-A-Thon and had a lot of fun reading my day away. April had my most books read mostly because I was reading a lot of these books at the same time. I also put up my announcement for the 2nd annual Library Books Read-A-Thon, which will be back this June.

I say this every year and it often doesn't end up happening, but I want 2015 to be the year when I stress less. College brings a lot of stress, but I want to give myself more time to relax whether that be through reading, blogging, knitting, coloring, or hanging out with my friends. I find that exercise helps reduce stress for me also.

March was an exciting time here on the blog. I debuted my first big event on the blog. A Month of Rapunzel happened in March. It was crazy to put out a couple posts per day, but boy did I enjoy every single post. It was such a fun month. I also participated in Take Control of Your TBR Pile.

February was a pretty normal month here for me on the blog. I posted reviews, readathons, and challenge sign ups. My favorite post has to be my announcement of A Month of Rapunzel Event that I had been planning for almost a year.

In With The New: Goal #2

I want to participate in the No Book Buying Challenge this year, but I wasn't going to because I couldn't think of a book buying budget. I'm a college student so most of my book buying money goes to textbooks. I save hundreds of dollars on textbooks every semester by using sites like bookrenter.com, and chegg.com. My rule of thumb is if I don't have to get it from the college bookstore I don't. The money that I save on textbooks gives me some leeway to buy books I actually want to read. I want to show my shelves some love this year, but I also still want to buy some books.

Berls from Fantasy is More Fun set up a reward system where she could earn money to buy books. I think it will at least give me enough money to buy books from the library book sale.

My Budget for 2015:
Purchases can be made through giftcards and rewards earned.

My main goal in 2015 is to continue my healthy lifestyle, but to really kick it in gear. This year I'm kicking sweets out of my diet. I didn't allow them very often this year, so in 2015 I'm going to lower the number even more to about once a week. My exercise plan is going to come back into action also and I'm hoping to stick to it this year.

• $1.00 for every week I swim twice a week  (this one will be adjust come summer since we have a different pool schedule, but at college I have access to the pool twice a week and have to wake up at 6:00 in order to make it over there.)
• $1.00 for every week I run at least twice a week
• $.10 for every monthly keyword challenge book completed
• $.20 for every book I read that I own
• $.10 for every series finished
• $.10 for every library book read
• $.30 for every kindle ebook read

These are my goals notice how I'm rewarded for every book I'm read, but I can earn more money by reading books I own and kindle books since that is where my money goes. I will also allow myself $.05 earned for every dollar I save on textbooks. This doesn't allow me a whole lot, but it is something. I also coupon quite a bit, but I could do better. I can earn .05 cents for every $10 saved with coupons.

This is kind of a game for me to play in 2015 to see how much money I can save myself in order to buy books. Let's say in January I read 5 books. Two books are books that I own, Two book is from the library, and One book is an ebook. Lets also say in January I swam for all three weeks I'm at college. Lets also say that I ran for 2 weeks, so I skipped a couple workouts. I didn't finish any series or complete any books for the monthly keyword challenge.I would earn about $5.60 in January. It will slowly build over the year. I think this is a fun way to limit my spending.

This post was very personal for me and very hard to write especially as the third anniversary of my friend Lizzy's mother's death is nearing again. It will be three years this year and I still think of Krista's accident often. It still is a day I will never forget. A lot of things have changed for my friend Lizzy this year. She began a mom at 19 years old to a beautiful baby girl, Aubree Krista. I think her daughter is a great tribute to her mother. Lizzy did not plan to be a young mother, but she is enjoying life with her little girl. You can read the post for the whole entire story. It is something that really changed Lizzy's life, but has also had an impact on my life.

So for me January was all about wrapping up 2013 and making goals for the New Year. I think now is a great time to look at the goals I set for myself and see if I completed them. The post can be found here. 

1. Blog Design
Check and Check. I wanted a custom blog design and that is exactly what I got thanks to the wonderful Debz Bookshelf. 
2. Bring Back the TBR Pile
Check on this one also. I brought it back and I stuck to it for most of the year.
3. Monthly Wrap Up
I also brought this feature back. College did not allow me a whole lot of time so I have combined some of the wrap ups, but overall I have done great with this goal.
4. Participate in More Events
This goal went pretty well. I participate in quite a few reading events this summer and had a lot of fun. I did several read-a-thons this year and overall had a lot of fun.
5. Read the Books I want to Read
This one I think could continue to see improvement. I do think I read quite a few books this year that I have been wanting to read for a while, but there are still plenty more. One thing I know is that my TBR will never be at zero.
6. Read 60 Books
This one is complete. I have 69 books so far this year.
7. Continue to Comment Around the Blogosphere
I want to continue to do this in 2015. I think I did okay this year, but I always could do more.
8. Continue to Read the Authors I Love
I would say this one was a fail. I wanted to catch up with authors I have loved for a while such as Jodi Picoult, and Nicholas Sparks. I read 1 book from each of those authors this year. The great news is that I found so many new authors to love.
9. Finish the Series I Started
I finished Divergent Trilogy, The Mortal Instruments, Burn for Burn Trilogy, and NewSoul Trilogy. I still have series I need to finish, but this is a start.
10. Continue to Have Fun
I still love blogging and it is still something I spend quite a bit of time doing. This goal is sill going strong.

In With The New: Goal #1

In 2015 I plan to begin participating in To Be Read List as my random book selection for 2015. I would also like to continue to participate in Top Ten Tuesday. That is my exciting news for the New Year.
