My To-Be Read List- January 2015

Hosted by Because Reading

Welcome to My To-Be Read List for January. A new meme I am participating in this year to tackle my TBR pile feature you, my readers, voting on what I will read in January. Please take a moment to vote on the pole at the bottom of the post. Please leave a comment if you would like also. If you have read any of the book and have an opinion for which book I should read please leave a comment. I may be pushed to read more than one of these books.

I actually have two books on this list that I would be okay with either one winning. I'm excited to read the one, but not as excited as the other two. Without further to do here are my books.

Water Song by Suzanne Weyn has been on my TBR List since March 9th, 2013. This is a retelling of The Frog Prince.

"ONCE UPON A TIME" IS TIMELESS

Young, beautiful, and wealthy, Emma Pennington is accustomed to a very comfortable life. Although war rages abroad, she hardly feels its effect. She and her mother travel from their home in Britain to the family estate in Belgium, never imagining that the war could reach them there. But it does.

Soon Emma finds herself stranded in a war-torn country, utterly alone. Enemy troops fight to take over her estate, leaving her with no way to reach her family, and no way out.

With all of her attention focused on survival and escape, Emma hardly expects to find love. But the war will teach her that life is unpredictable, people aren't always what they seem, and magic is lurking everywhere.

Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George has been on my TBR list since February 18th, 2013. Princess of the Midnight Ball is a retelling of the 12 Dancing Princesses.

A tale of twelve princesses doomed to dance until dawn…

Galen is a young soldier returning from war; Rose is one of twelve princesses condemned to dance each night for the King Under Stone. Together Galen and Rose will search for a way to break the curse that forces the princesses to dance at the midnight balls. All they need is one invisibility cloak, a black wool chain knit with enchanted silver needles, and that most critical ingredient of all—true love—to conquer their foes in the dark halls below. But malevolent forces are working against them above ground as well, and as cruel as the King Under Stone has seemed, his wrath is mere irritation compared to the evil that awaits Galen and Rose in the brighter world above.

. Captivating from start to finish, Jessica Day George’s take on the Grimms’ tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses demonstrates yet again her mastery at spinning something entirely fresh out of a story you thought you knew.

Sold for Endless Rue by Madeleine E. Robins has been on my TBR list since February 6th, 2014. Sold for Endless Rue is a retelling of Rapunzel.

The Crystal Heart is a retelling of Rapunzel. A girl in a tower. An underground kingdom. This retelling of Rapunzel offers a gripping blend of magic, romance, adventure, fairytale, and mystery.

his captivating historical answers the question, "Why did Rapunzel's mother lock her in the tower?" After a blighted childhood, young Laura finds peace and purpose in the home of a midwife and healer. Later, she enrolls in Salerno's famed medical school—the first in the world to admit women. Laura and her adoptive mother hope that Laura can build a bridge between women's herbal healing and the new science of medicine developing in thirteenth century Italy. The hardest lessons are those of love; Laura falls hard for a fellow student who abandons her for a wealthy wife. Worse, her mother rejects her as "impure." Shattered, Laura devotes herself to her work, becoming a respected medico. But her heart is still bitter, and when she sees a chance for revenge, she grabs it—and takes for her own Bieta, the newborn daughter of a woman whose husband regularly raided the physician's garden for bitter herbs to satisfy his pregnant wife's cravings. Determined to protect her adored daughter from the ravages of the world, Laura isolates the young woman in a tower. Bieta, as determined as her mother, escapes, and finds adventure—and love—on the streets of Salerno. Bieta's betrayal of her mother's love comes at a terrible price as lives are ruined and families are torn apart. Laura's medical knowledge cannot heal her broken heart; only a great act of love can bring everyone forgiveness and peace..

I chose fairy tale retellings because I like to get as many of these read as possible before Fairy Tale Fortnight comes around again and floods my TBR list again. I'm very excited to read all three of these and I'm very excited to see what book you guys pick for me. Please Vote Below and thank you in advance for your opinion. I will be back next week with the results

    1. I understand retellings not being your cup of tea. As much as my sister and I read the same books she still hasn't got into fairy tale retellings, but she gives them a try for me.
